Rafael Casal’s song discusses how misogyny is a big part of the male psyche. As such, he addresses the fact we are conditioned by society to devalue emotional vulnerability and conform to toxic masculinity. This in turn caused us to devalue women and treat them poorly, as men know how easily they can be hurt by women and avoid emotional involvement, while continuing to pursue the sexual/ physical aspects of a relationship. Casal uses a feminist approach and metaphors to show how men behave around women compared to other men, and the inherent sexism in many of our romantic encounters. This has a negative impact of women’s mental health and leaves men feeling like they cannot express themselves.
