I have found this comic a useful tool for conveying an idea of what it might be like to live as a non-white person, especially, in a postcolonial nation such as New Zealand. Though this experience can obviously never be fully felt without first identifying as such, we can get closer by bringing a speciesist approach to inequality through the colonization of Earth by a more powerful race of beings. Students are quick to see the injustice and with a little prompting will quickly make the connections and soon realize which side of the divide they are on. Themes include racism, inequality, exploitation, migration and power imbalances.
