Lesson Templates

If in doubt, do not stop here – you know FAR more than you think! Be confident in what you do know, and do not fake what you don’t. If in doubt, turn to your students, they will more than happily help you to understand and accurately represent their culture. By power-sharing in this way you will also give them a sense of empowerment which will see them flourishing in ways which ‘rote and rod’ teaching cannot imaging.

Below are TWO Lesson Templates. These are not designed for a single lesson, but rather, to give an indication of how the resources on this site may be used. They are by no means intended to be definitive, instead, they are to show that with a little creativity Hip-Hop can be used as readily as any other resource.

For each Lesson Template there is a TEMPLATE, an EXPLANATION, and an EXAMPLE.

Input is designed to be taught FIRST. Output is designed to build on what has been covered in Input.

Input and Output both have 9 steps which match and build on similar ideas.

Input is focused on teaching skills such as how to Listen, Read and View using Critical Thinking with an attention to Language Features and Social Issues.

Output is focused on utilizing the skills which are covered in the Input lessons such as how to Speak, Write, and Present on a Language Feature or Social Issue.
